Louise is an illustrator, researcher and writer. She is endlessly interested in fragments, void spaces, landscape and the finding of stories or meaning in the gaps in-between. Her research and practice explores the interweaving of place, history and memory, and the visual language of archaeology and archives. She is influenced by the work of W. G. Sebald, Tacita Dean, as well as, Deconstruction and Zen aesthetics.

Louise has exhibited and delivered papers widely including; Illustrating Identity/ies (Nancy, 2017); FOMO, (Falmouth, 2017); Shaping the View (Edinburgh, 2016); Sophronia (Falmouth, 2016). After completing a BA in fine art in Leeds, Louise moved to Falmouth five years later to undertake the reputable MA in ‘Illustration: Authorial practice’. Louise is currently working on a practice-based illustration Ph.D. through Falmouth University exploring how forms of repair behave as illustration codified by the principles of Japanese Kintsugi repair and centred in the city of Plymouth. Her title is Hidden Fractures: Plymouth Illustrated within its Repairs.
